All aboard
There’s no better way to see Noosa than from the dazzling Noosa River on Noosa Ferry. Why not make a day trip on the Noosa Ferry, taking time to explore each stop? There are seven stops in total, which are in specific zones listed below:
Zone Tewantin
Starting in the historic town of Tewantin, the home of Noosa Regional Art Gallery, Sunday Markets, Op shops, restaurants and Noosa Marina, where many fishing charters begin.
Zone Noosaville
Gympie Terrace in Noosaville runs alongside the river; there are four stops along this stretch: Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club, Pelican Boat Hire, O-boats and T-boats. Be sure to let the captain of Noosa Ferry know if you want to get off or stomp your feet if you are on the top deck. There is a range of activities to enjoy along Gympie Terrace. Take the kids to the Pirate Park near the Yacht club, get a picture with the Big Pelican, swim in the river, hire a boat or kayak, enjoy some fish and chips from Noosa Boat House or relax in a day spa.
Zone Noosa Sound
Here, you can access Ricky’s restaurant, Noosa Parade, and stunning waterfront homes. Or wave as you sail by the residents sunning themselves on the luxurious decks of the riverside accommodation.
Zone Hastings Street
Mix with the well-dressed socialites in Noosa Heads, soak up some rays on Main Beach, explore the National Park, scratch that retail therapy itch, or choose from one of the many restaurants, bars and cafes on Hastings Street. For all this and more, jump off the ferry at the jetty behind the Sofitel Hotel, which is easy walking distance to the action.
Noosa Ferry Tickets
Tickets are available online, at each stop or on board. The best value for adults is an All-Day Pass at $25, seniors at $22.50, and kids between 5 and 17 years at $12.50. Kids travel for free under 5. You can also get an afternoon pass, travel by zone, or travel one way. Sunsets on the river are out of this world; take in the striking colours from a Sunset Cruise. BYO your favourite tipple and snacks, ensuring you don’t leave anything behind. The ferries are also available to charter for things like weddings, special occasions or private transfers.
Aye, Aye, Captain!!
Your friendly boatman will be your MC while you chug up and down the river, giving you information on the area and tips on where to eat, drink, or shop. They are always delighted to answer any questions you may have. When we took sail, Jono was our skipper, entertaining us with stories, history and fun facts all the way. All the family will enjoy this “cruisy” day trip; it’s a memorable way to tour the wonderful Noosa.
